Empowering Young Women realize their Dreams

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)

HIV remains one of the most pressing public health issues in Kenya, particularly for young women and adolescent girls. Social stigma, limited access to healthcare, and lack of education make addressing HIV a multifaceted challenge.

Our Mission

To reduce the prevalence and impact of HIV in communities by providing accessible education, confidential testing, life-saving treatment, and comprehensive support for individuals living with HIV, especially focusing on at-risk populations, including adolescents and women. We aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives free from stigma and discrimination.

Our Goal

To reduce new HIV infections through targeted awareness campaigns, ensure early detection and consistent treatment through free testing and counseling services, and provide ongoing support for individuals living with HIV, enhancing their quality of life through mental health services, antiretroviral therapy (ART), and community-based support networks.

At MercyK Services, we address HIV through:

Goal: The goal of these campaigns is to reduce new HIV infections by providing communities with the knowledge they need to prevent the transmission of HIV.

  • Education on HIV Prevention: These campaigns provide information about how HIV is transmitted (through unprotected sex, shared needles, and from mother to child during childbirth or breastfeeding) and the various methods of preventing it, such as the consistent use of condoms, regular testing, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission.

Goal: To give individuals the knowledge and support they need to make informed decisions about their health.

  • Free and Confidential Testing: Offering free HIV testing in a confidential, supportive environment is crucial to reducing the fear of stigma and ensuring more people get tested regularly. Confidentiality ensures individuals feel safe and respected when disclosing their health status.

Goal: To ensure that individuals living with HIV not only have access to medical treatment but also the social and psychological support they need to live healthy and fulfilling lives.

  • Access to Antiretroviral Therapy (ART): ART is a life-saving treatment that helps people with HIV manage their condition and live healthier, longer lives. MercyK Services ensures that people living with HIV have access to ART through partnerships with healthcare providers or through funding support.

Goal: These programs focus on empowering young people to take control of their health and well-being while addressing the unique challenges they face.

  • Workshops on Safe Practices: These programs include interactive workshops that teach young people about safe sexual practices, such as the correct use of condoms, the importance of consent, and how to communicate about sexual health with partners.
